Cowley College Names Ariana Peterson as October Student of the Month

Ariana Peterson

Cowley College is proud to announce Ariana Peterson, a dedicated and high-achieving student, as the October Student of the Month. A Pre-Veterinary Medicine major from Lincoln, Nebraska, Peterson maintains an impressive 4.0 GPA while actively contributing to campus life through academics, athletics, leadership, and service.

At just 19 years old, Peterson is deeply involved in the Cowley community. She works as a work-study in the Natural Science Department, serves as a Resident Assistant at The Lodge, and coaches gymnastics. A graduate of Lincoln Southwest High School, she chose Cowley College for its athletic opportunities and close-knit academic environment.

Peterson is the proud daughter of Colby and Nicole Peterson. She credits her parents and older sister, Syerra Peterson, with shaping her character and determination.

“My dad does his best to support me and my aspirations. He always supports my decisions and knows that I'll do what's best for me. My mother was there for me all the time. She pushes me to be my best self and to not let anything get in the way of my dreams. My parents raised me to be a kind, strong, and independent person, and they are the reason I have gotten to where I am today,” she shared.

Along with her academic success, Peterson is a member of Cowley cheer and dance, Impact, the Math and Science Club, and serves as President of Phi Theta Kappa. She is also a proud Cowley Student Ambassador and has represented the college by participating in the Old Settlers Day and Arkalalah parades.

Following graduation from Cowley College, Peterson plans to transfer to a four-year university to complete her bachelor’s degree before pursuing veterinary school to earn her professional degree.

Peterson expressed her gratitude for receiving this honor saying, “It feels amazing to be named Student of the Month. I am so grateful to be chosen for this and to show that anything is possible when you put your mind to it. I am super thankful, but I also want to thank all my professors; they have really helped me grow and thrive at Cowley College.”

Cowley College congratulates Ariana Peterson on this well-deserved recognition and celebrates her ongoing dedication to excellence, leadership, and service.
