Cowley College Names Cooper Leonard as September 2025 Student of the Month

Cowley College is proud to recognize Cooper Leonard, a sophomore from Ponca City, Oklahoma, as the September Student of the Month.
Leonard is pursuing a degree in Psychology and maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA. With plans to earn a doctorate in Sports Psychology, he hopes to continue both his education and track and field career at a four-year university after graduating from Cowley.
Track and field first brought Leonard to Cowley, but he says the education and community sealed his decision. “The people here are what makes it great, so I was happy to be recognized as one of those people that make it what it is,” Leonard shared.
Leonard has immersed himself in campus life through a wide range of roles and organizations. He is a member of the track and field team, Student Senate Vice President, Student Ambassador, Resident Assistant, Phi Theta Kappa, Hope Squad, Impact, and the Disc Golf Club. In addition, he serves as the lead student representative on the Tiger Eats Advisory Board and works on campus as a student life game room work study and Resident Assistant in Storbeck Dorm.
Beyond campus, Leonard actively volunteers in the community—greeting children at school, helping at local high school track meets, and cleaning area disc golf parks through the Disc Golf Club.
Family plays an important role in Leonard’s life. He is the son of Allyson and Jake Leonard. His mother has taught elementary school in Ponca City for nearly 20 years, while his father is a small business owner with a background in the oil and gas industry. “My parents are the reason I am who I've become and I’m so grateful for the sacrifices they’ve made for my siblings and I. My family is everything to me,” Leonard said.
Leonard has six siblings: Jacob (21), Joleigh (17), Corbin (14), Jonasz (12), Jeanette (11), and Cleo (7).
Honored by his selection as Student of the Month, Leonard expressed gratitude for the opportunities and experiences Cowley has provided. “I have grown so much while I've spent time at this school and on this campus,” he said.
