Cowley College presents Meg Smith with 2025 Tiger Heart Award

Cowley College proudly recognized Meg Smith as the recipient of the 2025 Tiger Heart Award, presented during the spring semester's Welcome Back Inservice.

The Tiger Heart Award is given each semester to a faculty or staff member who exemplifies dedication, kindness, and commitment to excellence while going above and beyond to support their colleagues. The award was presented to Smith by Jim Ailey, the previous recipient.

Smith’s impact at Cowley is felt in every role she takes on—as a friend, colleague, teacher, team leader, and problem solver. She is known for leading with compassion, communicating with clarity, and setting a high standard through her example.

One student described Smith as “the most influential instructor and mentor of my entire college experience.” Another student, recognizing her tireless effort, gave her the nickname “The Workhorse.”

In accepting the honor, Smith humbly reflected: “If people want to keep recognizing your hard work and talents, you really need to shout them out.”
