Cowley College Hosts KACC and KACCBO Quarterly Meetings; Senator Larry Alley Recognized as a Community College Champion

Cowley College proudly welcomed members of the Kansas Association of Community College Trustees and Presidents (KACC) and the Kansas Association of Community College Business Officers (KACCBO) to its main campus in Arkansas City for their quarterly meetings held July 31st–August 2nd.
Leaders from community colleges across the state gathered to discuss shared initiatives, financial strategies, and ways to better serve Kansas students and communities. The three-day event fostered collaboration among college presidents, trustees, and business officers, with sessions focused on legislative updates, statewide workforce needs, and best practices in higher education administration.
“These quarterly meetings provide an opportunity for community colleges to establish common goals and work together to address the educational and workforce needs of our community,” said Cowley College President Dr. Michelle Schoon.
A highlight of the event was a formal dinner held on the evening of August 1st, where KACC Executive Director Heather Morgan presented Senator Larry Alley with a Community College Champion Award. The award recognizes Senator Alley’s ongoing support of Kansas community colleges and his advocacy for affordable, accessible education throughout the state.
Cowley College was honored to host this impactful event and continue its role in fostering collaboration and innovation across Kansas community colleges.
