Cowley College proudly celebrated the academic achievements of 46 residents of the Winfield Correctional Facility during a graduation ceremony held on Monday, June 30, 2025. The event marked a significant milestone in the lives of the graduates, many of whom are taking meaningful steps toward a brighter future.

Seventeen residents were awarded a Welding Technology Certificate A, and sixteen earned an Electromechanical Maintenance Certificate A, demonstrating their commitment to developing career-ready technical skills. These programs are part of Cowley College’s ongoing commitment to providing accessible education and vocational training to incarcerated individuals through its Correctional Education Program.

Of the thirty-three post-secondary graduates, ten residents earned placement on the Dean’s Honor Roll, and two residents earned the distinguished President’s Honor Roll for their academic performance during the Spring 2025 semester.

In addition to the post-secondary graduates, thirteen residents received their Kansas high school diploma, marking an essential step toward lifelong learning and reintegration success.

“Providing educational opportunities allows Cowley College to support residents in successful community reintegration,” said Jared McGuire, Correctional Education Program Coordinator. “These students are to be commended for their commitment to academic success and goal-oriented growth.”

The graduation ceremony serves as a reminder of Cowley College’s mission to empower individuals through education—regardless of their past—while supporting rehabilitation, personal growth, and workforce readiness.
