Jacob Giger Alumni Spotlight

Jacob Giger

Jacob Giger’s journey reflects a deep commitment to the performing arts and a willingness to pursue opportunities wherever they lead. He attended Cowley College from 2018 to 2021, earning his Associate of Arts while actively participating in music and theatre. He then continued his education at Southwestern College, graduating in May 2023 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre Performance.

Jacob’s interest in Cowley began in high school, where visits from Cowley Choirs and attending productions like Little Shop of Horrors inspired him to pursue both music and theatre at the college level.

During his time at Cowley, Jacob was heavily involved across campus, including Cowley Choirs, CC Singers, Band, Pep Band, Theatre Productions, Music Club, and Act One Drama Club. These experiences not only strengthened his performance skills but also helped him build meaningful connections, particularly with professors Lindsay Allen and Nick Albrecht, who played an important role in his personal and academic growth.

Like many students, Jacob found the transition to college challenging, especially when it came to developing independence. Learning to balance responsibilities and grow into a dependable individual became one of his most valuable takeaways. While in school, he also worked at Sonic Drive-In and Pizza Ranch, gaining additional real-world experience.

After graduating from Southwestern, Jacob expanded his experience through the Disney College Program at Walt Disney World in 2024. He continued pursuing theatre work upon returning home, including serving as a for-hire technician at the Burford Theatre in Arkansas City. In 2026, he relocated to Branson, Missouri, where he now works in Attractions at Silver Dollar City while continuing to explore opportunities in theatre.

Jacob credits communication as one of the most important skills he developed during college, emphasizing its role in collaboration and professional success. His passion for movies, musicals, and comedy ultimately guided his decision to pursue a career in musical theatre—one he would choose again without hesitation.

His advice to current students, “Break a leg! (Figuratively speaking.) Get involved in as much as you reasonably can—clubs, projects, internships, performances—anything. Cowley offers so many opportunities in one place, and the people make it truly special. Take advantage of it.”

From the stage to behind the scenes, Jacob continues to build a career grounded in creativity, growth, and a genuine love for the arts.
