Ariel Metcalfe GED Spotlight

Ariel Metcalfe, a devoted mother from Fairmont, West Virginia, is working toward completing her GED. At 33 years old, Ariel’s motivation stems from her unwavering dedication to her daughter, who requires 24-hour care due to autism. Earning her GED is the first step in her goal of becoming a special education paraprofessional, ensuring she can support her daughter when she reaches middle school.
Ariel’s heart for service extends beyond her home. She is an active member of Evangel Bible Fellowship Church of God. Serving as a Sunday school teacher and participating in the church's outreach program. Her strong faith and the support of her loved ones have been guiding forces in her journey. She holds deep gratitude for her mother, Sherry Gould, a loving grandmother and steadfast Christian. She cherishes the memory of her father, Steven Meile, who recently passed away but remains in her heart as the giver of the world’s best bear hugs.
Determined to make a difference in the lives of special education students, Ariel hopes to contribute to USD 470 as a paraprofessional in the future. She is incredibly grateful to Kari Stephenson, her GED instructor, and Leigh, whose support has been instrumental in her progress.
Reflecting on this journey, Ariel shares, "Thank you for the opportunity to receive this. It's my pleasure to have the support of all staff in the GED program."
Her journey is a testament to perseverance, love, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.
