Student of the Month
A Mass Communications major, Avery Smith is a 2025 graduate of Girard High School
and currently holds a 3.93 GPA at Cowley. She was drawn to Cowley after receiving
a Mass Communications scholarship and visiting campus.
Smith has embraced that community through her involvement in numerous campus organizations
and activities. She serves as the photo editor for Media Club and is involved in Hope
Squad, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Student Senate Secretary, Student Ambassadors
and the Resident Assistant program
After graduating from Cowley, Smith plans to continue her education at Kansas State
University, where she intends to pursue a degree in advertising and public relations.
Cowley College congratulates Avery Smith on becoming the September 2026 Student of
the Month and recognizes her dedication to academics, campus involvement, community
service and her future career.

Nomination Criteria
Take time to NOMINATE an outstanding student now! Nominations must be received by the 5th of the month. To be considered, the student must meet the following criteria:
- Must have established a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher on 31 or more credit hours.
- Must be enrolled full time.
- Must be an outstanding citizen.
The submission form will request the following information:
- Nominee name
- Nominator name and email
- Why it is believed that the student is a good candidate for student of the month
- How the student serves as a role model for others
- List of activities outside the classroom
- List of honors and awards
- Other comments can be provided but are not required
